Engine Stands: CFM 56-3

The CFM56-3 Engine Installation Stand, P/N: CFT 11700-2, is designed specifically for transportation, ground handling, and bootstrapping of General Electric CFM56-3 engines used on Boeing B737-300 and 500 aircraft.

The stand rides on swivel casters and shock mounts and is equipped with a towbar.  The casters may be mounted at either of two heights.  The lower position provides clearance for engine installation and removal.  The casters may be stowed on the stand for shipping.  The aft casters are equipped with locking swivel capabilities.  The shock mounts prevent unwanted vibration or shock loads from being transmitted to the engine during handling and engine transportation.

The stand provides unique port and starboard forward engine mount spindles and a mount stanchion.  Forward mounts are equipped with a spherical bearing for engine attachment.  The aft mount is pinned.  The stand is intended only for low speed use (3 MPH (5KPH) or less) on smooth-surfaced hangers, and can be used with the engine bootstrap equipment to install and remove CFM56-3 engines.

The stand is flux welded using either A500 or A36 carbon structural steel components.  All pins and related hardware are precision CNC machined using either 4130 or 17-4 stainless steel or 7075-T6 aluminum.  All stands are painted using epoxy based paint per customer requirements.  Yellow is the standard color; however customized colors are available at no extra charge.

Each stand is load tested utilizing NIST certified gauges to assure each stand meets quality standards prior to shipment.  Additionally, dye penetrant or mag particle inspections are performed prior to and following load testing.
